About Sit Spot Club

Dr. Tara Tiger Brown was burned out from her third tech startup in Tokyo when she learned about shinrin-yoku, or forest bathing. Her shoulders dropped for the first time in months. Four years later, she had a PhD from UBC Faculty of Forestry & Environmental Stewardship measuring what happens when people intentionally spend time connecting with nature.

She is a certified forest therapy guide who treats burnout as a design problem: you do not need more willpower, you need better structure.

There are many inspirations behind Sit Spot Club, including busy people who know nature makes them feel better but need accessible guidance; Indigenous practices; and outdoor stillness competitions in Japan and South Korea.

Sit Spot Club started in 2024 as a free monthly activity in Vancouver parks. Now, Tara is bringing it to you whenever you need it and wherever you are.

Sit. That's it.

A simple act of paying attention. Sit Spot Club helps you reconnect with nature on your terms. Sit quietly, notice what's around you. That's it.
